Look it up. Read it. Remember it.
Gaijin combines an offline Japanese dictionary with a focused Reader, contextual flashcards, kanji practice, and grammar lessons—all without an account.
Built for focused study
Move from a real sentence to a dictionary entry, save it with its source, then review vocabulary and practise kanji without losing the context that made the word useful.
Before you try Gaijin
Can it look up conjugated Japanese?
Yes. Search the form you encountered, or search by Japanese, English, kana, or romaji. Open the dictionary entry to explore readings, meanings, examples, kanji, and stroke order.
Can I read my own Japanese text?
Paste, type, import, or photograph Japanese text. The Reader adds furigana and lets you tap a word for a definition. Save vocabulary with the original sentence and return to your reading position later.
How does vocabulary review work?
Review due vocabulary with spaced repetition, or use Practice for recall without changing the review schedule. Context stays attached to saved words. You can also practise kanji from the vocabulary you are learning.
Does it work offline, without an account?
Yes. Dictionary and study content are available offline. Camera recognition and Reader text stay on your device. Gaijin requires no account and has no advertising or cross-app tracking.
